university of mpumalanga civil design

South Africa is currently experiencing an increase in the demand for tertiary education facilities, and in response to this, government and the Department of Higher Education and Training initiated a project to develop two tertiary institutions at specifically identified locations, one of which is the University of Mpumalanga. Over the next few years, the university will be developed into a formidable institution capable of supporting the need for tertiary education in South Africa.

The new University of Mpumalanga is currently being developed on the existing Lowveld Agricultural College in Mbombela. On completion, which is aimed for 2029, the university will serve 15 000 students on 245 ha of land. The university is expected to grow rapidly in the next few years once the necessary infrastructure has been developed, however, the civil infrastructure in the area is insufficient to meet this demand. The department therefore required the services of a professional engineering consultancy to design the infrastructure such as the roads, the water supply, a sewer reticulation network, a stormwater network, and a fire water supply system in order to meet this future demand.

Delta BEC was appointed to provide planning, conceptualising, design, and construction preparation of civil installations between the new buildings, considering performance, legislative requirements, sustainability, and suitability for their intended use at the University of Mpumalanga.
